The Flame

I watched the flames burnAnd it made my mind wander

To places I’ve been

And people I’ve known

I threw a wet napkin on the flames

For a while it remained strong

But over time, the power of the flame was too much to resist

It became engulfed by the flame

It succumbed to the flame

I knew that it would

Who can resist the flame when it’s that strong

Who can resist the flame that’s always burned

Not water, no

No one

The flame is too strong. It breaks down the walls built

It overcomes the obstacles meant to prevent it

The flame burns true, deep, eternal
